I’m so excited to participate in the first Tell Me Thursday!

This plaque is sentimental to me because my oldest daughter bought it for me for Christmas. Her school holds a children’s shopping day where the kids are able to shop for gifts with student helpers while the parents wait in the hallway. It’s always a big deal for her to show this independt side and it was very strange to see her all dressed up as a 5th grade helper this year…I sometimes still see her as the timid kindergartener she used to be!
My daughter has always chosen great gifts that are perfect for me, whether it be a vanilla-scented candle or a Best Mom magnet for the fridge. This is yet another perfect gift because I love the colors and I love the idea of believing in your dreams. When she presented this to me on Christmas morning, it was a sign to me that I should open my VA business instead of just thinking about it.
She is only 10 (almost 11) so she doesn’t fully understand the significance of her gift (well, I just haven’t told her about the significance, honestly) but it sits on the shelf in my office and I can see it everyday. I love the happy colors and I know she’s so proud that I love her gift.
Most importantly, this simple one-word phrase reinforces my confidence that I made the right decision to start this business and that if I don’t believe in myself, I will never reach my dreams.

Great story. I read it to my husband and he had some very good analogies from it. It led to a discussion about family, love, and how we were loved or not loved as children.
Pictures and the stories behind them stir up stories.
Your daughter should hear how ger gift was an inspiration to you and gave you the push you needed to believe in yourself. It might just be what she needs to give her the confidence to do something too.
It’s really great when our children are supportive of us. Sometimes, they are the best cheerleaders we’ll ever have! It’s a beautiful gift in every way… thanks for sharing the photo & the story. It gave me warm, fuzzy feelings! =)
What a great story! And you should tell your daughter – I bet she’d love to hear how much her thoughtful gift really means to you! (or let her read this! lol)
Thanks for playing in TMT!
