In case you missed my Wordless Wednesday picture, here it is.
Tell Me Thursday

The star of that picture is my 6-year-old, who treats me to a Hannah Montana concert the second she gets the headset on. Sometimes I’ll be lucky and get some dance moves along with the singing!

But she loves to hear herself talk and really enjoys recording. I suppose it’s a novelty and pretty cool to hear your own voice. We have quite a collection of her stories, including original American Girl stories and even a touching song about our deceased dog. She has recorded a bumper announcement that I often use at Wonder Years Radio and she even cohosted one of the episodes in February.

Not sure if this means she has a career in radio or podcasting in her future but it sure brought back childhood memories of my brothers pretending to be disc jockeys, with our little 45 record player and a tape recorder, trying to imitate their “coolest” radio voice.

This plaque is sentimental to me because my oldest daughter bought it for me for Christmas. Her school holds a children’s shopping day where the kids are able to shop for gifts with student helpers while the parents wait in the hallway. It’s always a big deal for her to show this independt side and it was very strange to see her all dressed up as a 5th grade helper this year…I sometimes still see her as the timid kindergartener she used to be!

My daughter has always chosen great gifts that are perfect for me, whether it be a vanilla-scented candle or a Best Mom magnet for the fridge. This is yet another perfect gift because I love the colors and I love the idea of believing in your dreams. When she presented this to me on Christmas morning, it was a sign to me that I should open my VA business instead of just thinking about it.

She is only 10 (almost 11) so she doesn’t fully understand the significance of her gift (well, I just haven’t told her about the significance, honestly) but it sits on the shelf in my office and I can see it everyday. I love the happy colors and I know she’s so proud that I love her gift.

Most importantly, this simple one-word phrase reinforces my confidence that I made the right decision to start this business and that if I don’t believe in myself, I will never reach my dreams.
